Zone C · El Dorado Irrigation District, or a private well

Irrigation repair
in Shingle Springs.

Shingle Springs is the one area on our map where the first question is not which rules apply, but whether any do. EID names Shingle Springs among the communities it serves, and for most addresses that is the answer. But the district’s service area is a fraction of the county around it, and outlying properties out here draw from their own wells. Those two situations need different work, and anyone who quotes you before establishing which one you are is guessing.

The rules that apply to your address

Shingle Springs water rules.

First, find out which you are

Your water bill settles it. If EID bills you, the district’s rules and rebates below apply. If nothing bills you for water, you are on a private well and no watering schedule governs you at all — your constraints are your pump, your pressure tank and your recovery rate, which are real constraints and considerably less forgiving than a rulebook. We do not have a way to determine this from a map, so we ask.

If you are on EID

Administrative Regulation 1041 is in force all year under all conditions. It prohibits operating an irrigation system in disrepair or one that waters an impervious surface, and irrigating within 48 hours of measurable rain. The penalty ladder runs written warning, $100, $200, $500. No assigned watering days — that schedule was rescinded in 2016 and the district returned to normal supply in April 2023.

Pressure is the fault to suspect up here

EID operates 200 pressure regulation zones across a service area running from 500 feet of elevation to more than 4,000, and states that the pressure regulator is the homeowner’s responsibility with a service life of about 10–15 years. Sudden or fluctuating pressure is the tell. As of 2026 EID will shut your curb stop free of charge while a regulator is replaced. We do not publish a psi figure for your address because EID does not publish one either.

If you are on a well

The failure modes change completely. A zone that will not hold pressure is more often the pump cycling or the tank waterlogged than a split lateral, and a system designed for district pressure will behave badly on a well that delivers something else. We diagnose the same way — every zone run and observed — but what we are reading is different.

The rebate, if EID bills you

Up to $250 per service account in 2026, including irrigation efficiency upgrades and weather-based controls under Tier 1. The 2026 form carries no licensed-contractor requirement, so work we do is not ruled out on that ground — the district decides eligibility. Dated receipt, submitted within 60 days. EID publishes no leak-repair rebate.
