Irrigation repair
in Rancho Murieta.
We want to be exact about Rancho Murieta, because there is a great deal of stale information circulating about it. No water shortage stage is in effect here right now. What has changed is the price of water and the district’s own assessment of its supply — and those are worth acting on before a stage is ever declared.

Rancho Murieta water rules.
RMCSD adopted a rate increase in June 2026, effective July 1, 2026. Residential potable water moved from a $70.09 monthly base and $0.0271 per cubic foot to an $85.46 monthly base and $0.0393 per cubic foot. The volumetric side rose considerably more than the base — which means overwatering costs meaningfully more than it did last summer.
No shortage stage is currently declared. We verified this against the district’s 2026 ordinance list, its August and September 2026 newsletters, and its June 2026 board packet. Anyone telling you Rancho Murieta is under mandatory restrictions is working from old information.
District Code Chapter 14 §11.01.j, amended February 2023: no lawn irrigation between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Drip irrigation and hand watering are excluded, and weather-based controllers are excepted. Permanent waste prohibitions also apply — runoff into gutters or drains, and fixture leaks.
