Zone A · Golden State Water (Arden-Cordova) — with Sacramento County and Cal-Am pockets
Irrigation repair
in Rancho Cordova.
Rancho Cordova is the one place on our map where your neighbour across the street may be on a different water company. The city lists four providers — Golden State Water’s Arden-Cordova system serves most of it, with Sacramento County Water Agency, California American Water and the City of Folsom each holding pockets. The first thing we check is whose bill you get, because that decides the rules and the price of a leak.
The rules that apply to your address
Rancho Cordova water rules.
Most of Rancho Cordova and Gold River is Golden State Water, Arden-Cordova system. Parts of the city are Sacramento County Water Agency (Zone 40/41), a few are Cal-Am, and the edge nearest Folsom is on Folsom water. The city publishes a provider map; your water bill is the fastest answer.
Three tiers, effective January 2026: the first 13 units at $2.38, the next 33 at $2.73, and everything over 46 units at $3.14, plus a monthly service charge. A leak that pushes you past 13 or 46 units is billed at the higher tier — the most expensive water on the bill is the water that ran through the broken part.
Golden State recommends three days a week — even addresses Sunday, Wednesday, Friday; odd addresses Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. It is a recommendation today, not a declared shortage stage; if Stage 1 is declared the same schedule becomes the rule. Sacramento County Water Agency runs the identical odd/even split.
Golden State asks for irrigation between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.; the County’s window is 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Either way, the controller should not be running in the afternoon.
Golden State’s Rule 14.1 gives you 48 hours from the company’s notice to repair a leak before it can restrict or shut off flow — the shortest clock on our map. Trees and edible plants watered only by drip or micro-spray are exempt from the day and hour limits.
Golden State’s 2025–2027 programme: weather-based controller up to $100, rotating nozzles $4 each (minimum 15), drip conversion 25¢ a foot, flow monitor $100, rain barrels $35. The County’s rebates are on hold as of 2026.
