About
One person,
and a clear limit.
Henderson’s Landscape Services is Seth Henderson, working out of Sacramento. There is no crew, no dispatcher and no upsell script. The person who answers the phone is the person who shows up and the person who does the work.
What we sell
Judgment, and taking the problem off your hands.
Not hours. Not parts at a markup. What you are actually paying for is somebody working out what is wrong and then standing behind the diagnosis — which is the thing that is hard to get and the thing that saves money.
That has consequences in how we price and how we talk. We do not advertise how fast a job goes, because speed that comes from knowing what you are doing should not cost less. We do not advertise cheap parts, because the part was never the hard part. And when there is real uncertainty in a job, we price it as uncertainty — a diagnostic step, or a defined range — rather than pretending to a precise number we cannot stand behind.
We will also tell you when not to do something. Declining work is part of doing it well.
Safety → Legal compliance → The correct technical solution → A clear scope → Your trust
Everything else — convenience, speed, our own margin — comes after those. When two of them conflict, the one higher on the list wins.
The part most companies bury
We are not a licensed contractor. Here is exactly what that means.
California lets an unlicensed person perform construction work under a narrow exemption, and we operate strictly inside it. In practice, four rules.
Under $1,000, all in
Every project totals less than $1,000 including labor, materials, disposal and everything else. Not per visit — per project.
No permitted work
If a job requires a building permit, the exemption does not apply no matter what it costs.
No employees
The owner does the work alone. We cannot bring a helper, even for an afternoon.
No splitting jobs
A larger project cannot be divided into sub-$1,000 contracts to fit. If it is too big, it is too big, and we say so.
Why we lead with this instead of hiding it
Because it is the most useful thing you can know before you call.
It tells you what we can take on, and it tells you when to hire somebody else — which we would rather say now than after you have waited a week for us.
Renovations, hardscape, drainage systems, planting at scale, and anything requiring a permit or a second pair of hands all sit on the far side of a C-27 license. Ask and we will point you at somebody who holds one.
Some municipal rebate programs — Roseville’s leak repair rebate among them — require a licensed contractor. Where that is the case we say so on the city page rather than let you find out at submission.

A manifold set clear of the ground with an insulated cover over it. Nothing about it will be interesting again for years, which is the point.
Why irrigation
Because it is the work that rewards actually looking.
A buried system nobody can see, failing in ways that show up somewhere other than where the fault is, on properties where the cost of getting it wrong is a bill that arrives every month for years.
That is a problem worth being good at. It is also work that fits cleanly inside the limits above.
Cash, check made out to Henderson’s Landscape Services, or a secure payment link through Chase. Nothing is due before the work is done.
